We report on a strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in [CoFe 4{\AA}/Pd t]6 multilayers fabricated by DC sputtering in ultrahigh vacuum chamber. Increasing the Pd spacing thickness (t from 1.0 to 2.0 nm), results in the reductions of saturation magnetization, Ms, and uniaxial anisotropy, Ku, to 155 emu/cc and 1.14$\times10^5$ J/m$^3$, respectively, as the inverse functions of the spacing thickness. Micromagnetic simulation shows anisotropic domain wall patterns confirming the magnetic anisotropy of the multilayers. X-ray absorption spectroscopy and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism measurements reveal that spin and orbital magnetic moments of Co and Fe in CoFe film decrease as function of Pd thickness, indicating the contribution of surface/interfacial magnetism to the magnetic properties of the film.
